At The BeHive, we:

Improve Children’s Academic Performance:
According to our ten years of data, The BeHive children consistently have higher grades, test scores and reading levels than their non-BeHive schoolmates.

Help Working Families Keep Working:
One of the biggest barriers to employment is school-age childcare.  The average hourly wage of The BeHive parents is $2 less than the average hourly childcare rate, and the gap between the end of the school day and the end of the work day averages 60 hours per month for The BeHive families.  We help fill that gap.

Slow Mobility:
Because families are reluctant to move from neighborhood housing that offers afterschool program to their children, children are able to have continuity at their school and stability in their neighborhood.  Mobility, which has a significant impact on academic success, is 14% lower for The BeHive children than for non-BeHive children at the same elementary school.
